Nottingham Castle Collection Initial Ideas

Posted on December 18, 2024September 27, 2025 by admin

This mind map shows my initial ideas for the project. As you can see, a lot of the themes are related to nature since that is my current preoccupation. I like the idea of focusing on trees as a symbol of nature, and exploring the Japanese word ‘komorebi’ meaning ‘light filtered through trees’. I can visualise creating something quite abstract with this concept, and experimenting with different media in an effort to best capture the experience of tree-filtered light. I also like the connection between trees and re-birth, and how this relates to the structure of the castle. I would also like to further explore the human relationship with nature and the connection between religion and the natural elements. I would like the work I create to feel immersive so I will consider different ways of achieving this.
